Get started

  1. Open Numbers and tap Add Number.
  2. Select the country or region and enter the phone number. You can also choose a provider and add a nickname, plan or notes.
  3. Set separate schedules for top-ups, SMS and calls. Choose a number of calendar days or months, or enter a known first due date.
  4. In Settings, turn on maintenance reminders and allow notifications. Choose your reminder time and how early you want to be reminded.
  5. After completing an action, open the number and tap Mark done. Check the date, add an optional note and save. SimTap updates the next due date and adds the action to Activity.

Frequently asked questions

Does SimTap keep a number active automatically?

You complete the required action with your carrier or service provider. SimTap reminds you and records what you have done. It cannot guarantee that a number will remain active, and it does not automatically send messages, place calls or add credit.

Check your provider's current terms and account notices before setting a schedule. An overdue task means your personal reminder date has passed; it does not establish that your phone number has expired.

Which reminder interval should I use?

Use the requirements for your specific plan. Each number can have separate top-up, SMS and call rules. Default intervals are editable starting points, not official provider deadlines.

For Google Voice, check Google's number retention guidance and any notices for your account. A 30-day schedule is a personal reminder choice.

Why did I miss a reminder?

Open SimTap and check Settings:

Each device has its own notification permissions and preferences. After changing data on another device, open SimTap on this device to refresh its reminders. Changes made elsewhere may not cancel already scheduled notifications while the app is closed.

Will travelling change my reminder dates?

Rules retain the time zone in which they were created. Repeating monthly rules use calendar months, including shorter months. Your device's new time zone does not redefine the rule's original schedule.

How do SMS and call shortcuts work?

On supported devices, Send text opens Apple's system message composer. Review the recipient, message and sending line before sending. SimTap cannot select your SIM. If your provider requires SMS, check that you are not sending iMessage instead.

The recipient is the person you want to contact, not necessarily the number you are maintaining. You can save a recipient and optional message template when editing the number.

Calling opens the system phone action. These features depend on your device and service configuration. You can always complete an action elsewhere and record it manually. A send callback is not proof of carrier delivery or qualifying activity.

Why does the Google Voice shortcut not open?

The shortcut tries to open the installed Google Voice app. If it is unavailable, SimTap offers the official website and App Store links. Check that you are signed into the account for the saved number, complete the qualifying action, then return to SimTap to record it.

Can I pay for a top-up inside SimTap?

You can save your carrier's top-up URL and open it from the number's details. The carrier or payment service handles that transaction. SimTap does not process the payment or add credit itself. Carrier and third-party service charges may apply.

What do the monthly and annual costs mean?

They are estimates based on the price and billing cycle you enter. Monthly plans use 12 periods per year; day-based plans use a 365-day year. Values stay in the original currency, with no automatic currency conversion. These estimates are not actual bills, account balances or historical spending.

A blank price means unknown. A price of zero means free. Changing a billing cycle does not change your maintenance reminder rules.

How do I fix a completion recorded by mistake?

Open Activity and undo the record. SimTap recalculates the next reminder using the remaining history. You can then record the action with the correct date and note.

Can I use SimTap offline or without an app account?

Your saved numbers, plans and history are stored on your device and can be used offline. No SimTap account is required. External services and iCloud synchronization require the appropriate connection and account configuration.

On configured physical devices, SimTap uses the signed-in Apple Account's private iCloud database for synchronization. Check the status in Settings. An available iCloud account does not mean every change has finished syncing. Allow time and open the app on both devices before comparing data. Notification preferences are set separately on each device.

How do I back up or restore my numbers?

In Settings, choose Export backup and save the JSON file somewhere private. It includes your numbers, plans, costs, rules and activity history.

Choose Import backup to select a SimTap JSON backup. Imports add new numbers and skip numbers already saved; they do not overwrite existing entries. The app validates the file before importing and supports files up to 10 MB. A backup contains readable, unencrypted text, so share and store it carefully.

What is the difference between archiving and deleting?

Archiving keeps the number and its history while pausing its maintenance reminders. Restore the number when you want to use it again.

Deleting removes the number and its associated rules and history. When iCloud synchronization is available, that deletion can also reach your other devices. Exported backup files are separate copies and are not removed by deleting the number.

Is there a subscription?

SimTap is a paid download with the included app features available after purchase. There is no subscription, in-app purchase or advertising. The App Store shows the price for your region. Carrier charges and optional external services are separate.

What should I include when requesting help?

Include your device model, iOS or iPadOS version, SimTap version, what you expected, and the steps that led to the problem. A screenshot of the error can help. Hide phone numbers and other personal information before sharing screenshots. A full backup is usually unnecessary; do not send one unless it is needed and you choose to share its contents.
